About being editor Some folks have asked, "With everything you have going, why did you start an archival website devoted to Irish culture?"
Well, first of all, I think this type of website has been needed for a long time. Second, Irish culture is a passion of mine and it should be preserved. And third? It's fun! The response has been overwhelming. Never have I been so inundated with remarkable people, exceptional stories and great things to do. It's hard to decide what to report and archive first. And that's the kind of problem I like to have. But seriously, MidWestIrish.com is very important, establishing a precedent against the tidal wave of pointless information that comes our way every day (Buy Spam Now!). The internet is often accused of making our society even more disconnected, instant and ultimately, disposable. Sites like MWI.com prove that does not have to be the case. It was my dream to create an ongoing archival site to record and remember our heritage. MidWestIrish is doing just that. I hoped the site would inspire others. It has proven to have inspired me. Very soon, my second site www.StateOfTheOzarks.net will be ready to visit. This new endeavor is committed to preserving the history and tradition of the unique Ozark Mountains' culture and as editor, I couldn't be more excited. Joshua Heston |
